Should Enhancing Steroids Be Allowed in Sports?

Should steroids be allowed in sports? I believe no. No, athletes shouldn’t be allowed to use drugs to make them feel and look stronger for any game. Allowing athletic role models, or not to use steroids for advantage purposes is not acceptable in my eyes.

Enhancing steroid drugs should not be tolerated because of all of the damage it does to one’s body. According to the article, “Steroids And Their Harmful Side Effects,” abusing steroids can cause cancer. As we all know, so far, cancer is incurable. Some side effects noted were: brain cancer, heart attack, kidney disease, weak tendons, etc. Mood swings, and change of personality is found to affect the user as well. Some might oppose that using steroids will help win the game, or look buffer. In conclusion, steroids are the wrong way to go; you would be following the path of a drug, and eventually severe illness.

From a recent debate in a seventh grade class, all students who stated their opinion thought that allowing athletes to abuse the use of steroids should not be allowed either. One student claimed that they are cheating themselves. Another student said it makes them look big, but actually makes their muscles weak. Our last person who spoke claimed that it defeats the purpose of working out, what they were chosen to do, the reason why they are on the team, and its illegal.  These statements are all true, steroids make you feel stronger, but you aren’t. Steroids make one believe that they can lift heavier things, but when they perform to do so, they rip muscles. Overall, using steroids is cheating, for you and your body, as well during the game, and you're cheating your teammates, and breaking the law.

Using steroids shuts down your body and can kill you. So, by taking steroids you are slowly killing your insides. The drug attacks so many parts of your body; your brain, heart, eyes, skin, aggressive behavior, anxiety, and disruption when you sleep is a possible side effect. People who agree to usage of steroids say that it is addictive, they like the feeling. They claim it is so addicting that they can’t stop. Even though steroids can kill, people still continue to use them because of addiction.

Now looking at both sides of the argument, I have came to the conclusion that enhancing drugs in the use of sports should not be welcomed. The reason for my opinion is because it there is a huge possibility of permanent damage to a users body. Your cheating, yourself, and your teammates as well. Lastly, using the drug can kill you, cancer can kill a steroid abuser. In conclusion, from the evidence provided, steroid drugs should not be allowed in sports.
